The OVU Stepping Stones, a national organization started by Church of Christ women in 1959, includes 33 chapters in nine states with more than 900 women participating. Through bake sales, catering services, candy sales, and a variety of special events, chapters raise over $175,000 annually for student scholarships, campus beautification projects and the general support of faith-based higher education, which Ohio Valley University provides. In the past 48 years the organization has raised more than $4 million.

“Stepping Stones is always looking for new opportunities to bring the community onto our campus, to meet our students and to become aware of their local Christian university. The craft fair serves that purpose, and allows Stepping Stones to raise funds for the university,” Director of Stepping Stones Susan Ryan Cockerham said. “Stepping Stones chapter member Virginia Moss is chairing this event and realized that this area is replete with wonderful crafters. We expect a great turn out.”

“I’m looking forward to this event. We hope to have several crafters from the surrounding areas,” Craft Fair Chair Virginia Moss said. “I have a love of crafting and I love to see the work of other crafters. Hand-made crafts are such wonderful gifts, especially with Christmas coming near. I am excited about the variety of crafts that we are hoping to have.”

Vendors are now being accepted for the event. The cost is $25 per 8’ table with an additional $5 fee for electricity. Reservations for tables must be received by Friday, October 12.

Admission is a nominal $1.00 for adults 12 years and up. All proceeds from the event will support Christian higher-education through Ohio Valley University.
