VIENNA, WV --- The Ohio Valley University baseball team recently announced that they are planning to host their first baseball alumni weekend October 12-14.
“The invitation is open to any former OVU baseball player or coach, who has ever been associated with the program, to come and enjoy meeting the current Fighting Scot team, as well as celebrate their career associated with OVU,” OVU Head Men’s Baseball Coach Chad Porter said.
The Alumni weekend begins on Friday, October 12th at 4:30 p.m. with the Blue-White Fall Ball World Series (best of three games), an OVU Fighting Scots intra-squad match-up at Bennett-Stump Field at the Parkersburg City Park. Then on Saturday, October 13th game 2 and 3 in the series will reseume and will take place beginning at 12 Noon. A special alumni/family cookout will then follow the games on Saturday evening.
Sunday, October 14th will feature an OVU alumni game at Bennett-Stump Field at the Parkersburg City Park. The alumni game will begin at 1:00 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
“We hope that this can become an annual event,” Porter said. “There have been so many quality players and coaches that have been apart of OVU baseball throughout the years that we want to make sure they know we appreciate all they did for us and that they will never be forgotten. We just want to make this a time where we can recollect on years past, and say thank you for being a part of our baseball legacy.”
OVU Fighting Scots baseball alumnus Kenny Balderson is coordinating the premier event.
