VIENNA, WV --- Ohio Valley University has announced the 2008 dates for the Inman Bible Preaching Seminar to be May 5-7 on the OVU campus in Vienna, West Virginia.
The seminar’s name will change in 2008 from Inman Bible Forum to Inman Bible Preaching Seminar.
“We changed the name to better reflect our goals,” OVU School of Biblical Studies Dean Dr. Michael Moss said. “The Inman Bible Forum has always appealed to local preachers and provided resources for preaching. However, we have changed from a forum with one speaker to a biblical preaching seminar with three speakers--a guest scholar, a local preacher and an OVU faculty member. We are growing and have adapted to meet the needs of those who attend.”
With the new name also comes a new format Moss said. The seminar has been patterned after several effective programs at sister institutions. Instead of a single day, the seminar will begin on the afternoon of Monday, May 5 and finish at noon on Wednesday, May 7.
Keynote speakers include Dr. Kevin Youngblood who serves as an assistant professor at Freed Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee, and who is currently working on a commentary regarding Jonah. Youngblood will teach three lessons on preaching from the book of Jonah. Dr. Charles Aebi, a local preacher from Vincent, Ohio, will focus on preaching from the book of Acts.
And Moss himself will serve as a speaker this year. His topic will be preaching from the book of I John. Much of Moss’ instruction and commentary will be based on his book “Lord Sometimes I Don't Feel Saved” taken from a study on John's epistles.
The cost to attend the three-day seminar is $30 and includes a continental breakfast on Tuesday and Wednesday, and a lunch and dinner on Tuesday.
On campus housing will also be available for seminar attendees at a nominal fee.
